As some Arsenal fans vented their frustration at Arsene Wenger, the Gunners' manager, at a recent meeting, speculation grew as to whether the Frenchman would leave the club. Real Madrid were mentioned but after a few days of rumours Wenger quelled the speculation insisting he will see out the remainder of his contract at the club.

His present contract runs until 2011 and he has not said what his intentions were after that date. If the Frenchman does leave, however, the perfect replacement could be found in Everton manager [David Moyes  http://www.4thegame.com/club/everton-fc/manager-profile/2944/davidmoyes.html].

The number of [Everton  http://www.evertonfc.com/home/] fans wearing David Moyes masks at Wembley on Saturday shows just how much they think of the Scot, and despite Everton’s recent loss against [Chelsea http://www.chelseafc.com/page/Welcome ], he is definitely worthy of their praise.

Moyes would be the perfect replacement for a number of reasons.

Chelsea’s team on Saturday cost almost £100 million while the Everton team was put together for half of that. The ability to build a competitive team on a limited budget would be an attraction for Arsenal’s board, which has limited Wenger’s spending in recent years. Debt repayments on Arsenal’s new stadium have meant that the Frenchman has had to be frugal in his spending.

With a good eye for a bargain, a good knowledge of European football and success at promoting youth team players, Moyes is also a quite similar manager to Wenger. With an academy of good young players at Arsenal, Moyes would not waste the work which has already been done in training these prospects.

Arsenal should nip in quickly because the former Preston manager would also be an attractive option for Manchester United.  Moyes would surely be a candidate when Sir Alex Ferguson finally does decide to hang up his stopwatch and stick his chewing gum under a table in the Old Trafford dressing room.

Everton may struggle to keep hold of their manager for much longer. He recently ruled himself out of the running for the Celtic job, but if one of the “big four” English teams come in for him, the offer would be hard to turn down.

When Wenger does leave the Emirates stadium, Arsenal fans should not worry. With Moyes at the helm their future as a top four club would be guaranteed.
